I honor the Land I was born to, much the same way I honor the Blood I was born from. So, today I hiked early to (successfully!) beat the rains that would become thunderstorms, and walked out across a prairie remnant. Where the buffalo roamed. While the hound chased rabbits and flushed pheasant, I left offerings of tobacco, cornmeal, dried berries, honey, and water, to the spirits of the place. To all the beings who came before me, and walked upon that same fertile earth, swam in the river flowing by, and soared across the sky above it all. The world keeps turning, with its cycles and seasons, and I am the one here, now, walking that land. I want those spirits to know I carry the tradition of loving and respecting that sacred ground with honor.
And, I left a deer heart in offering to the Trickster Coyote. I need him appeased. We need to be cool.
